Manila--The Phillipines October 2013

We arrived in Manila shortly after they had a major typhoon.  We were worried about coming but decided that if things were bad we would just fly out.  That is the nice thing about this part of Asia, flights are very inexpensive. We took a 3-1/2 hour flight for $100.00,

When we arrived, there was torrential rain and the driver that was supposed to pick us up was not at the airport.  We waited an hour and a half and finally he picked us up. On the way back to the hotel we went through some flooded areas but finally got to the hotel.

The hotel is a small apartment with ants everywhere and the temperature is very hot. We do have an air conditioner and a fan which helps. Alice has been cooking which is nice. We can eat what we like.
We looked around the area that we are staying Quezon City it is a nice part of the city.
We made a trip out to the Mall of Asia. Neither of us had ever seen such a big mall.  We had to take two trains and a Jeepsy (small orange truck picture attached ).  Another mode of transport is a Cubano (pic above),  also quite a unique looking vehicle. There are thousands of them.

It is so hot and humid here that people walk around with sweat towels to constantly wipe their sweat up.

All in all a big friendly city but one that we will probably not return to.
Now that I have a new computer I will try to post pics. immediately.

The Jeepsy are waiting!

Off to the mall in a Jeepsy!! CROWDED!!

 Shopping anticipation!!!

Here comes a Cubano!!!!

 Maximum capacity 36!!

  1. Very cool to see where you guys are! Hope it continues to be a good trip! Miss you here. It cooled off today and pushed a tropical storm to the east of us. No rain at all and it finally feels like fall. Hope it stays that way. See you in two months.
