Finally South Africa 2014 Cape Town, Knysna, Ballito and Kruger National Park

We visited relatives and friend's in Sandton when we first arrived and then we flew to Cape Town for a week, a city that we both love and will never tire of....The room was awesome but no view we stayed in Bantry Bay right across the road from the beach we could hear the sea.
We continued up the Garden Route a beautiful drive that we both enjoy to Knysna a nice little City where we definitely intend to spend more time in the future....
Another famous Scotsman like myself, Thysen was his name, discovered the Yellow Wood trees in this area 400 hundred years ago an ended up exporting to the whole world from the now Famous Knysna Forests, there are also the Knysna Heads which are quite a spectacle themselves....this is where the sea meets the harbor...a very dangerous body of water but a great spot for whale watching.
We drove to Hermanus on the way back  to Cape Town and believe it or not we seen whales swimming in the Bay quite near the shore....amazing.
We then stayed the night at Cape Town Airport where we were very surprised with our choice of Hotels...The Hotel Verde which has the distinction of being"the greenest hotel in Africa" here they have a gym where you can, during your exercise routine in the gym produce energy for the hotel they also grow their own veggies not using soil but using water pipes...a must stay hotel if ever you have an early morning flight from Cape Town.

From here we moved on to Kwa Zulu Natal to Ballito Bay a nice growing holiday town we seen the Dolphins playing around here....quite special.
Kruger here we come....as always one of our favorite spots in the world we seen many animals but the highlight was when a family of Lions stepped on to the road to see us or maybe welcome us..... first Mom then 5 babies about three feet tall then the Dad watching everything in the rear.
Elephant in abundance Hippo  too many to mentiom all sorts of Impala and Kudu and others of the Antelope family.
We rented three cars during our six week stay and drove about 8000 kilometres or 5000 miles...we have a new respect for the Volkswagen Polo it can climb mountains full of potholes or cruise along the freeway at 80mph

...a great little car.

  1. That sounds like lots of fun. I have thought about building an aquaponics system. What's a mountain? :)
