Machupicchu....One of the wonders of the World...

We left Cusco by train for Aguas Calientes, a small towm near the ruins of Machupicchu. We arranged a wake up call for 4.15am to catch the first bus up the mountain to Machupicchu.
We had a very informative guide and the ruins were overwhelming. These ruins are steeped in history and what we have learned is that the Spanish came to Peru in the 1530's and basically wiped out the Incas. (for more accurate info google Machupicchu)
When you look at some of the photos, please try to imagine that this was another era. There were no tools or machinery available to these people and all the work was by crude manual labor.

Just walking around the various temples and ritual areas for 3 hours was very tiring.
For the Walker gifted students who are following our trip you will see Lil Smokey is busy and enjoying himself.

We returned to Cusco and have a rest day today and tomorrow we head for Puno and Lake Titticaca.
